A MEISSEN GOLD-MOUNTED RECTANGULAR SNUFF-BOX
CIRCA 1765, THE MOUNTS CONTEMPORARY
Moulded with basketweave panels edged with rocailles, each side painted with a loose bouquet of flowers, the interior of the cover with the goddess Iris descending from a cloud below a rainbow, accompanied by a crowned god, perhaps Morpheus, and a bull, the interior of the box richly-gilt, the mount with a scroll thumbpiece (very minor wear to enamels on cover)
