MARK OF D. VOLLGOLD AND SOHN, BERLIN, DATED 1886
Cylindrical and on spreading base cast with foliage and scrolls, the sides inset with four rows of coins and with lion mask and foliage-capped scroll handle, engraved at the rim with an inscription, the hinged cover with finial cast as a figure with a rearing horse, marked on foot, the foot with a later Austrian tax mark
14 5/8 in. (37 cm.) high
73 oz. 18 dwt. (2,299 gr.)
The inscription reads 'Kaiser Wilhelm Dem Sieger in Der Grossen Hannoverschen Steeple Chase am 4 Juli 1886'
