(Lightly browned throughout, lower corner of T5 repaired.) Contemporary vellum gilt, sides with single fillet enclosing another fillet with floral cornerpieces, central oval decorated with an interlacing strapwork design and floral and foliate motifs in gilt, red and without colour, initials ‘M.S.I.U.S’ above and ‘F.O.D.G.’ below central oval on the front cover, the date ‘M.D.LXXIX’ above and ‘M. XBRI.’ below oval on the rear, flat spine ruled in gilt, fleur-de-lys in each compartment, yapp edges (lightly rubbed, a little soiled, lacking ties).

The fourth edition, revised and expanded by Johann Jacob Grynaeus, professor of theology in Basel. The work is dedicated to the sons of the mayor of Hildesheim, John and Joachim Brandis.
