A PALE GREYISH-GREEN JADE EWER AND A COVER
MING DYNASTY (1368-1644)
The high-shouldered body is carved on one side with a crane perched on rocks beneath a fruiting peach tree, and on the other side with a deer grasping a lingzhi stem in his mouth beneath a pine tree. The handle and spout both issue from dragon-head terminals, and the cover is carved with an archaistic dragon-form finial.

The K'ung Hsiang-Hsi (Kong Xiangxi, 1881-1967) Collection, New York, and thence by descent within the family.
