Lot Essay

The present work depicts a room in the Villa Sylvia in Saint-Jean-sur-Mer, France. Symphonie en Blanc was once owned by Madame Paul Dupuy (née Helen Browne of New York), who owned and ran, among other publications, Petit Parisien, which was at the time the newspaper with the largest circulation in the world.
