Lot Essay

''GE215 is an example of Wegner's special ability for matching dissimilar materials with great elegance.'' C. Holmstead Olesen, op. cit., p. 204.

It’s unknown whether Wegner intentionally arranged the straps on the back as a W, but it is a notable detail. The chair was shown at the great Nordic design exhibition H55 in Helsingborg, Sweden, in 1955.
