A PAIR OF HUANGHUALI 'OFFICIAL'S HAT' ARMCHAIRS, GUANMAOYI
18TH CENTURY
Each has a curved crest rail supported on curved rear posts and an S-shaped back splat. The arm rails are supported on slender standing stiles and extend beyond the front posts. The rectangular frame encloses a mat seat above plain, beaded aprons and spandrels. The legs are joined in the front by a shaped foot rest and stepped stretchers at the sides.
