A HONGMU ICE CHEST AND STAND
19TH CENTURY
The two top hongmu panels fit flush and are carved in openwork with two shou characters. The square ice chest has flared sides and is fitted with a pewter rim and two pairs of brass handles between brass bands. The whole is raised on the stand of conforming shape, with narrow waist and plain beaded aprons supported on thick, beaded, incurved legs set into a base stretcher raised on short tabs.
