With Richard Mille Warranty dated 22 December 2010, leather wallet, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.
2008 marked the 150th anniversary of the Parisian jeweler Boucheron and to commemorate this special occasion, Richard Mille produced a very special model, the RM018 available in a number of variations.
The watch is most notable for its movement, which is not only a tourbillon but has the wheels set with semi-precious stones. A number of different versions were produced in the limited edition of 30 pieces featuring tigers-eye, jasper, black onyx, and diamonds, that can also be seen through the skeletonised dial. The technique that is required to create such a watch involves a high level of mathematical modelling and precision in handcrafting its wheels.
As a clear nod to the history of Boucheron the crown is in the style synonymous with the maison haute joaillerie, and the case is deep engraved with vertical ridges giving a strong reminder of the icon Reflet watch introduced by the brand in 1947.
The present lot is perhaps the most handsome combination of the edition with the movement decorated with lapis lazuli presenting a beautiful contrast to the white metal case, set off by the subdued black alligator strap. Executed as a piece unique this may represent a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a watch important to the history of two significant brands at the top of their respective industries.
