The elegantly proportioned brush pot has subtly waisted sides and a fine grain with attractive patterning. The interior is covered in a now crackled black lacquer.
7 1/8 in. (18 cm.) high, 7 5/8 in. (19.3 cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

It is rare to find a lacquered interior in a brush pot, a feature that certainly would have afforded extra protection to the interior and would have created a striking contrast between the black lacquer and the warm, rich color of the huanghuali.
