STANDISH, Arthur (active 1611-1613). New Directions of Experience Authorized by the Kings Most Excellent Majesty, as may appeare, for the planting of Timber and Fire-wood. [London: Nicholas Okes], 1614.
Second edition, with fine early provenance, owned by a prominent land owner for whom forest management would be of prime concern. Originally published in 1613 as New directions of experience by the authour for the planting of timber and firewood. Scarce: ESTC provides the place of publication and the publisher and records only one copy in Britain and three copies in the U.S.

Large hand-colored folding plate of a cultivated planting of trees mounted on a guard (old reinforcement on verso). 18th-century parchment-backed marbled boards, front cover with engraved cartouche and manuscript title label mounted (light rubbing). Provenance: Henry Streatfeild (1679-1747 or son 1706-1762), substantial British landowner and prominent member of Chiddingstone, Kent Streatfeild family (ownership signature on title); Streatfeild family (engraved bookplate).
