Folio (345 x 242 mm). 8 full-page engravings, and numerous text illustrations (some light browning and staining mostly marginal, H2-H3 remargined, touching plate border of full-page illustration). Contemporary limp vellum (some staining and minor worming). Provenance: Jacobi Manzoni (bookplate). Fowler 387.
The mathematician Egnazio Danti edited this edition, after the first of 1583. “Danti’s commentary considerably exceeds in length the basic text, and explores the implications of Vignola’s theories in a wide-ranging manner” (Kemp, Science of Art p. 79). Cicognara 810; Millard Italian 149.
