A composite set of Piranesi’s vedute with approximately 465 plates. This set includes: views of St. Peter; Paestum and Herculaneum; the 6 plates of the “Ichnographiam” or plan of the Campus Martius of the ancient city; all 6 plates for the complete view of the front of the Trajan’s Column; all 6 plates for the complete view of the front of the Marcus Aurelius column.
23 works in 20 volumes, folio and large folio (565 x 425 mm and 560 x 830 mm.). Approximately 465 plates (of approximately 1200 only, some with spotting or marginal tears). Contemporary green morocco backed green paper covered boards (worn). Provenance: Edward Francis Searles (bookplate). Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.
