A CIZHOU CUT-GLAZE ‘FISH’ JAR
JIN DYNASTY (1115-1234)
The jar is fluidly carved through a layer of black glaze to the white slip-covered ground, with a broad band comprising four fish, two of which facing upwards and two downwards. The interior is largely covered with a black glaze, while the base is unglazed revealing the pale buff body.
