Lot Essay

Sergio Larraín García-Moreno (1905-1999) was a Chilean architect and collector of antiquities. In the 1970's he sought to find a place where he could display the collection that he had acquired over the course of his lifetime. Together with the foundation of the Familia Larraín Echenique, he played a huge part in founding the Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino, Chile, in 1981. The museum still holds a large number of pieces donated from the Larrain Collection.
