Lot Essay

This endangered species strap is shown for display purposes only and is not for sale. The watch will be supplied with a calf leather strap.

The "Kurt Klaus" Da Vinci edition pays tribute to the outstanding watchmaker Kurt Klaus who spent more than fifty years with the company as a highly successful designer and inventor and gave birth to the Da Vinci. During this period, his designs included an easy-to-use perpetual calendar that could be set using the crown and a moon phase display that required no correction buttons. If for some reason the watch has not been worn for some time, all the displays - i. e. the date, day, month, four-digit year and perpetual moon phase - can be advanced synchronously, a day at a time, using the crown.

An impressive timepiece, the wristwatch is crafted in an attractive tonneau-shaped case, featuring the K. Klaus signature on its dial as well as the portrait of the watchmaker engraved on the case back. Limited to 500 pieces, the present wristwatch is amongst the most complete examples of the reference offered at auction.
