Lot Essay

Kept throughout the years with the upmost care, the present reference 5065 in yellow gold is accompanied with a truly complete set of accessories. Originally sold by Mersmann S.A. on the prestigious via Nassa in Lugano, the current owner ensured to retain the certificate of origin of the timepiece as well as the product literature surrounding the wristwatch. Paying very close attention to the condition of his timepiece and the accuracy of its movement, it was collected after servicing within the Patek Philippe Geneva Salons on the 15th of November 2018, where the customer decided to purchase an additional strap to complement the wristwatch.

A very coveted timepiece, the Aquanaut reference 5065 was launched in 1997 and produced until 2006. With an attractive “Tropical” strap, the wristwatch was Patek Philippe’s first reference with a strap made of high-tech composite. With a pattern matching the dial, the wristwatch quickly captivated collectors of the manufacture through its elegant design and became one of the firm’s most popular models.

One of the most prestigious example of the reference, cases made in yellow gold were manufacture by Favre-Perret, La Chaux-de-Fonds with embossed dial.

An example of the reference 5065 is illustrated in Patek Philippe Steel Watches by John Goldberger, 2010 edition, pp. 414-415.
