Prospective purchasers are advised that several co… Read more PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF GUSTAVE LOUP (1876-1961)Gustave Loup was born in China in 1876. For more than 40 years he and his family were involved in business between Switzerland and China and soon began to deal with Chinese antiquities. His elder son, also named Gustave was erudite and had keen eye on objects, he was very knowledgeable in Chinese culture and art. In 1920, he opened an antique shop called La Chine antique in Geneva and continuously travelled between the two countries. When Alfred Baur visited China, Gustave was his guide. After he passed away in 1961, some pieces of his collection stayed in his family including this bronze figure.瑞士藏家古斯塔夫·盧普先生於1876年生於中國。其家族在中國和瑞士間經營貿易四十餘年,很早亦開始購買中國古董及藝術品。其長子眼光極高,精通中國文化。1920年,他於日內瓦開設La Chine Antique古董店,常年往返於中瑞兩國。當阿尔弗雷德·鲍尔前往中國時,他曾擔任其導遊。1961年,他在故鄉與世長辭。他私人珍藏的部分藏品一直在家族流傳至今,當中包括這尊銅漆金文殊菩薩造像。

Il est représenté assis en lalitasana sur un lion placé sur un socle lotiforme. Sa main tient la tige de lotus soutenant un manuscrit. L'épée de l'autre côté est manquante. Il est vêtu d'un dhoti et paré de bijoux précieux. Son visage serein est surmonté d'une couronne à cinq pointes.
Hauteur: 40 cm. (15 ¾ in.), socle en bois

Previously in the collection of Gustave Loup (1876-1961), acquired in China in the early 20th century, thence by descent in the family.
