APOLLO 10 MASCOT – Snoopy Astronaut dolls signed. China: Determined Distributions of San Francisco for United Feature Syndicate, 1969.

Two Snoopy dolls in space suits and helmets, signed by Tom Stafford and Gene Cernan.

Both SIGNED and INSCRIBED, by Tom STAFFORD, and Gene CERNAN respectively. The first doll is INSCRIBED and SIGNED by TOM STAFFORD: "Snoopy, LM-4 Call Sign, Tom Stafford, Apollo X Cdr, May 69" on the back of Snoopy's helmet. Stafford also flew on Gemini 6 and IX, and was Apollo commander on the Apollo Soyuz project in 1975.

Charles Schulz, creator of the comic strip Peanuts and its beloved star Snoopy gave his full blessing to NASA for Snoopy to be adopted as the mascot for the Manned Flight Awareness (MFA) Program. As illustrated on dozens of internal NASA posters, Snoopy, given a space suit and helmet, became a "spokesperson" to emphasize attention to good spacecraft manufacturing quality control and awareness to flight safety. The Lunar Module (LM) crew of Apollo X, Commander Tom Stafford and Gene Cernan, named their LM Snoopy to bring greater recognition to the MFA program. Apollo X Command Module Pilot John Young followed suit and named his spacecraft Charlie Brown.

Two dolls, 10 inches each, both with the original red and blue display boxes.
