FLOWN ON APOLLO 11 – Apollo 11 Beta cloth crew emblem.

"This Beta emblem traveled to the Moon with Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing." SIGNED by Buzz ALDRIN.

The emblem is displayed on a certificate with the words above and the last names of the Apollo 11 crew, recreating the plaque left on the Moon that was attached to Lunar Module Eagle's forward landing strut, and the first words uttered by Neil Armstrong after stepping onto the Moon: "One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."

The certificate is matted with Buzz ALDRIN's signed provenance note, reading: “This Beta cloth crew emblem was carried on the flight of Apollo 11 and is from my personal collection. It is mounted on a display certificate which has an image of the Lunar Module plaque left on the lunar surface. Neil Armstrong and I became the first men to land and walk on the Moon on Sunday, July 20, 1969.” Beta cloth was the fire protection layer of the Apollo space suits.

Beta cloth crew emblem, 4.5 by 6.75 inches, mounted on an 11.5 by 10 inch certificate. Archivally matted with the 2 by 8 inch provenance note and an 8 by 10 inch color photograph of Buzz Aldrin with the United States flag on the lunar surface, to an overall size of 14.25 by 23.25 inches.
