The jewellery firm Debacq was started in Paris in 1812 by Raymond Sabe, trading and manufacturing gold jewellery. Lot 72 is a brilliant example of their golden period, in the late 19th century, when they were famous for their diamond-set jewels in the floral theme, especially devant-de-corsage and brooches. The cases of their jewels often revealed different fittings, allowing the pieces to be worn in several different ways.
