The present ref. 6263 is a very rare and extremely well-preserved representative of the 18K gold manual Daytona, furthermore sold with the full set of accessories.
Carefully cherished throughout the years, it features the highly appealing and perfectly preserved champagne dial variation with black subsidiary registers, Cosmograph signature and attractively aged luminous dots. The overall appeal is enhanced by the very well preserved gold case and gold bracelet, with strong proportions and edges. The subtle oxidation to the gold case underlines the fact that it has not been used in a long time. The watch is furthermore fitted with the original winding crown, pushers and bezel.
Daytona chronographs in gold cases were powered by the Valjoux 727 movements with COSC official chronometer certification, which was an unusual feature for a chronograph of the period. Consequently, dials of these examples bear the designation “Chronometer” at 12 o’clock, and “Cosmograph” above the 6 o’clock register.
The present timepiece shows no signs of any intervention by a watchmaker, it can be assumed that it had not been opened since its sale in 1986. It represents the rare opportunity to acquire this highly desirable model in outstanding, untouched condition.
