A study for an engraving in the same direction by Frederik Bloemaert, one of a series of twelve prints from circa 1630-1635 representing The Bishops of Utrecht by Cornelis and Frederik Bloemaert (see M.G. Roethlisberger, op. cit., I, nos. 431-442, II, figs. 603-614 and J. Bolten, op. cit., I, nos. 313-324, II, figs. 313a-324b). Saint Werenfrid is shown here holding his attribute; a boat with his coffin. After the Saint's death there was discussion as to where he should be buried, but when his coffin was placed in a boat, it miraculously drove against the current up to Elst where Werenfrid had been priest.

Ce dessin est une étude pour une gravure de Frederik Bloemaert dans le même sens, et faisant partie d’une série de douze estampes réalisées vers 1630-1635 par Cornelis et Frederik Bloemaert, représentant les Évêques d’Utrecht (voir M. G. Roethlisberger, op. cit., I, nos. 431-442, II, fig. 603-614 ; et J. Bolten, op. cit., I, nos. 313-324, II, fig., 313a-324b). Saint Werenfrid est ici représenté son attribut à la main, un cercueil porté par un bateau. A son décès, le bateau sur lequel le cercueil fut placé se mit miraculeusement à voguer à contre-courant jusqu’à Elst, où Werenfried avait exercé sa profession de prêtre.
