Lot Essay

The present Gübelin retailed 3417 is an attractive and well preserved representative of Patek Philippe's first anti-magnetic wristwatch produced in series, available exclusively in stainless steel. It is furthermore believed that the present example has never been offered in public before and is part of the last series of the reference.

Reference 3417 Production of reference 3417 was launched in 1958 and ceased around 1970. It was Patek Philippe's first "Anti-Magnetic" wristwatch made in series, available exclusively in stainless steel. At the time of its introduction, the "Amagnetic" feature was a sign of excellence and consequently mentioned on the dial. Compare to the first series, the "Amagnetic" mention was not always printed on the last series (as the present example).
