Lot Essay

The ‘LM’ mark to the reverse of the ormolu mounts gives an attribution to Louis Majorelle’s workshop in Nancy which during the 1880s produced Rococo Revival furniture in an exuberant interpretation of the Louis XV style. Please see the following lot for a note on Louis Majorelle.
