This Royal Oak is a very well-preserved example of the celebrated “A-Series” ref. 5402ST. It features an original and magnificent “A Series” typ 2 dial, with the AP logo correctly placed between the 9th and 11th lines, calculated from the bottom part of the dial, and the correct “Swiss” script stamped below 6 o’clock. It is part of the second 1000 “A-Series”, its serial number "A 1033" indicating that it was the 1033th piece made.
After having sold out the first 1,000 pieces numbered A 0001 to A 1000, the success of the model was such that Audemars Piguet decided to increase the production to 2'000 pieces. Once “A-Series” was sold out, it was followed by the "B" series, "C" series, and so on.
