Original game worn home flannel jersey from one of the most impressive seasons by a pitcher in the history of the game. Cream color flannel jersey with classic navy blue Old English "D" on front retains its original tackle twill #17 on back. Wilson manufacturer's tag affixed to the tail front with "1968" chain stitched strip tag. McLain has autographed the tail front in black sharpie. Beautiful original condition with appropriate use while retaining superb original visual eye appeal having only a scant few age spots on the front to account for its 9.5 grading level. Denny McLain's 1968 season was one for the ages as he compiled a record of 31-6 with a 1.96 ERA leading the Tigers to the World Championship. Although the latter part of McLain's career would end in unfortunate scandal and relative mediocrity, his 1968 campaign will go down as one of the most superlative of any pitcher in the history of the game. Includes 1971 typerwritten letter regarding the jersey on Tigers stationary from their PR Director, LOA from MEARS Authentication (jersey)(A9.5) and full LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph): EX
