A CARVED SMOKY QUARTZ SNUFF BOTTLE
1770-1830
Of rounded rectangular form, the bottle is carved in high relief on one side with a scene of a monkey seated on a rocky ledge gazing at the reflection of the moon in the waves below. The reverse is carved in low relief with a figure crossing a bridge beneath a blossoming prunus tree.
2 5⁄8 in. (6.6 cm.) high, pink tourmaline stopper
