A WHITE JADE SNUFF BOTTLE
POSSIBLY IMPERIAL, 1730-1850
The bottle is of lobed, melon form and is carved with mask and fixed-ring handles on the narrow sides. The stone is of an even, white tone.

Lot Essay


The current bottle is distinguished from other bottles of this form by the foot of conforming form as well as the inclusion of mask and ring handles. Another white jade melon-form bottle, but without the confirming foot and handles, was sold at Christie's New York, The Blanche B. Exstein Collection of Fine Chinese Snuff Bottles, 21 March 2002, lot 208.
