This design for an altar, richly decorated with Corinthian columns, surmounted by a frieze of metopes and triglyphs, a monstrance and winged angels holding censers, is presented in elevation and plan. The first signature, that of the artist, which begins with a ‘B’, remains unidentified, while the second is that of the person in charge of approving the commission, probably the church’s priest. This is a rare example of a design for church furniture from the second half of the 17th Century. The Dijon sculptor Jean Dubois (1625-1694) produced a Project for an architectural and sculpted tabernacle, similar in technique and composition, that is part of an album of 168 drawings in the Musée du Louvre, inv. RF 6066.85.

Ce projet de retable richement orné de colonnes corinthiennes, surmonté d’une frise de métopes et triglyphes, d’un ostensoir et d’anges ailés tenant des encensoirs est présenté en élévation et en plan. La première signature, celle de l'artiste, qui commence par un ‘B’ reste non identifiée tandis que la seconde, est celle du responsable qui approuve la commande, sans doute le prêtre dans le cas présent. Il s’agit ainsi d’un rare témoignage de commande de mobilier d’église de la seconde moitié du XVIIe siècle. Le sculpteur dijonnais Jean Dubois (1625-1694) réalise un Projet de tabernacle architecturé et sculpté, de technique et de composition proche et faisant parti d’un album monté comprenant 168 dessins (musée du Louvre ; inv. RF 6066.85).
