A LOUIS XIV ORMOLU AND BRASS-MOUNTED CHERRY AND TORTOISESHELL PEDESTAL EARLY 18TH CENTURY, ALTERED IN THE 19TH CENTURY The rectangular platform with moulded edge, above a lambrequin panel centred by a Diana mask, above a ribbon-tied husk trail, the tapering body with leafy base, on a waisted spreading socle and plinth base, the sides, restorations and 19th-century replacements to the tortoiseshell, the base reduced in height 84 in. (122 cm.) high; 19 ½ in. (49.5 cm.) wide; 9 in. (23 cm.) deep
An almost identical pair of pedestals with the same form, mask mounts and foliate clasps was offered from the collection of Mrs Antenor Patino, Sotheby's New York, 31 October 1992, lot 63.
