Lot Essay

The present lot may be compared with a model of a cockerel in the collection of the French Queen Marie-Antoinette, illustrated by Monika Kopplin in Les lacques du Japan, Collections de Marie-Antoinette, Versailles, 2001, p. 186, no. 56, where it is mentioned in the Queen's inventory from the 10th October 1789.
