Lot Essay

A great rarity among Patek Philippe time-only vintage wristwatches, reference 2517, nicknamed ‘fisarmonica’, Italian for accordion, due to the shape of its lugs, it is one of the most unusual and stylish designs made by Patek Philippe. Only 12 examples in pink gold are thought to have ever been made and the present watch is one of only three pieces in pink gold known publicly today.

Introduced in 1951 and in production until 1956, the cases of reference 2517 were made by Georges Croisier, one of the best casemakers of the period and the beautiful dials by Stern Frères featuring applied gold hour markers and hard enamelled signature and seconds scale.
