Lot Essay

Award-winning charity Outside In are partnering with Christie’s and The Auction Collective/ Indy.Auction, to raise core funds for the charity.

Outside In provides a platform for artists who encounter significant barriers due to health, disability, social circumstance or isolation to show their work and three programmes of activity: artist development, exhibitions, and training. These activities, supported by fundraising and communications, all aim to create a fairer art world by supporting artists, creating opportunities and influencing organisations.

Christie’s will be selling two works by Ivon Hitchens (lot 158) and Lynn Chadwick (lot 159), which have been generously donated to Outside In, with 100% of the hammer price going to the charity. The Auction Collective will be hosting an online auction from 14 to 31 October, which will include works by leading contemporary artists including Sir Grayson Perry (who is also an honorary patron of Outside In), Bobby Baker and Bob and Roberta Smith (who judged the charity’s last national Open Exhibition). The online auction will also include works by a number of Outside In’s own artists, including Antony Stevens, Rakibul Chowdhury, Victoria Bowman, Jasna Nikolic and David Puttick.
