Lot Essay

The present print is an extremely rare counterproof of the The Circumcision in the Stable. New Hollstein records only two counterproofs, including the present one, which is there - erroneously in our opinion - listed as a third state. The other impression, also listed as a third state, is in the Albertina, Vienna.
For additional information about counterproofs, please see the note for lot 45.
