Lot Essay

“I chose the two simplest and most common forms of beds for my work. One is a bed that has been restored to its original state after people have left the building, and it seems that we can imagine the once-vibrant scene of life in the absence of the people and the presence of the bed; the other is the single bed commonly found in guesthouses or hotels at that time, which was plain and high-class, and its unique temporary sense of security comforted the city's transient visitors, and this special aesthetic style also became one of the marks of that era. This special aesthetic style has also become one of the marks of that era.” — Zhang Enli
