A PAIR OF LARGE CHINESE CLOISONNÉ ENAMEL FIGURES OF ELEPHANTS
LATE QING DYNASTY
Each elephant stands foursquare with the head turned slightly to the side and truck curled under, decorated with an intricately enameled cloisonné saddle and other adornments, and fitted at the top with a removable flat ornament that when removed reveals a cylindrical opening extending to the under side of the figure. Each base is cast with an apocryphal six-character Qianlong mark.
