Further Details
Taxile Doat's archives reveal that in 1900, Mr. Bernasconi Hermanos from Buenos Aires purchased 23 works from the artist at the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris. Of these works, he acquired a Grand vase à coulures for 100 francs, noted as no. 537 in the archives. It is likely that the present lot is this referenced vase as it is dated 1900 and the Grand vase à coulures was the only vase from this year that was noted as 'large' and sold at a reasonable price compared to its size and design.
We would like to thank Amélie Marcilhac, working on a forthcoming monography on the artist, for her assistance with the cataloguing of this lot.
