The Royal Variety Charity held huge importance to the late Barry Humphries, particularly Brinsworth House, the residential care home for performers. Emily Perry (1907-2008) who played Dame Edna Everage's longsuffering bridesmaid Madge Allsop, herself spent the last four years of her life at Brinsworth.
