with apricot mohair, deep amber and black glass eyes, pronounced clipped snout, black stitched nose, mouth and claws, swivel head, jointed shaped limbs felt pads and label stitched to right foot pad --13in. (33cm.) tall, circa 1907 (excelent condition)

Lot Essay

The Bruin Manufacturing Co. first advertised in US trade journal Playthings. Based at 497 Broome Street, New York City with trademark 'B.M.C.'. The Strobel & Wilken Co. of 591 Broadway and Frank W. Owens, 714 Broadway, were the selling agents. They manufactured a range of soft toy animals including teddy bears with imported German voices, as well as bear outfits and accessories.
