A stoneware bowl, incised to the well with a radiating sun motif, the exterior with a band of verticle fluting, covered in a tenmoku glaze, circa 1930 impressed KPB seal -- 17.5cm. diam.

Lot Essay

Ursula Mommens studied under William Staite Murray at the Royal College of Art. She later worked with Michael Cardew at Wenford Bridge and he became a major inspiration. She later moved to South Heighton where high fired reduction stoneware and porcelain gradually superceded her earlier preference for earthenware.
