The tapering cylindrical nephrite handle with spreading reeded hinged base with laurel-chased borders, the outer carnelian matrix engraved with the coat-of-arms of the Demidoff family, Princes of San Donato, opening to reveal two further matrices, the first in bloodstone engraved with the crowned monogram 'OSO', the second in agate engraved with the Imperial crown, marked throughout with 'Fabergé' in Cyrillic and workmaster's initials
