A Gilt Bronze Figure of Vajradhara
Tibeto-Chinese, Yongle Mark and Period (1403-24)
Finely cast seated in dhyanasana on a double lotus base with beaded rims, his wrists crossed in vajrahumkara mudra holding his attributes of a vajra and ghanta, wearing flowing garments, beaded necklaces and belt with jeweled ornaments, anklets, bracelets and armlets, his face in a serene expression flanked by disk-shaped foliate earrings and surmounted by an eight-crested diadem, his hair braided at the crown and rising to a curled topknot with a lotus bud finial with some loose strands at his shoulders, incised with a six-character Yongle mark at the front of the base, the base sealed and incised with visvavajra
