AN URARTIAN RED STONE STAMP-CYLINDER SEAL

With frieze of two confronting winged mythical creatures with fish tails, and a quadruped galloping away, the base with a horned quadruped with fish tail, suspension loop above, 7/8 in. (2.2 cm.) high; a Cappadocian haematite cylinder seal showing the storm god, Adad, brandishing his lightning fork, behind him a king holding a mace, and before him a goddess and a worshipper, in the field a diminutive kneeling suppliant, a fallen figure, a fish and a lion, circa 1700-1650 B.C., ¾ in. (1.9 cm.) high; another Cappadocian haematite cylinder seal with a lion attacking an ibex and a king with mace before a robed figure holding a staff, infilling motifs including three dots, a pot, human head, star, crescent, fly, ball-and-staff and hedgehog(?), circa 1700 B.C., 1 in. (2.4 cm.) high; an Old Babylonian haematite cylinder seal, a goddess being approached by a king and worshipper with animal, and monkey in the field, 1 in. (2.4 cm.) high; another, black stone, a seated goddess being presented with a worshipper by another goddess, lion-headed staff and crescent in the field, ¾ in. (2 cm.) high, both circa 1900-1600 B.C.; another, rock-crystal, with similar presentation scene, with owner's inscription "Mina..., son of Shu-kaka", edge chips, circa 2000-1900 B.C., 11/8 in.
