A RENAISSANCE-STYLE ENAMELLED GOLD CEREMONIAL KEY
Probably Spanish, circa 1845
The upper section with square box enamelled with a coat-of-arms and a lozenge-of-arms twice and with inscription relating to Majorca, with compressed circular finial enamelled with foliage and with further inscription, the baluster stem with foliate junctions and inscription, the bit pierced with crosses and enamelled in red
9 in. (23 cm.) long
A rough translation of the inscription reads 'Behold the keys of your Kingdom of the Majorcas which we, the magistrates and the fathers of the State, together with the fathers of the same Kingdom, present out of sincere faithfulness to your Majesty.'
