Lot Essay

Willy Bogner is the veteran Olympic ski champion who, as well as designing the ski-wear sported by Bond in For Your Eyes Only and A View To A Kill [see lot 289], was also employed as the specialist cameraman for the ski sequence in which Roger Moore as Bond is seen wearing the outfit included in this lot. Following the mysterious sinking of the British spy ship, the St.George, Bond is despatched on Operation Undertow to the Northern Italian ski resort of Cortina to retrieve the ATAC [Automated Targeting Attack Communicator], designed to send encoded signals to British Polaris submarines to activate their nuclear missiles, and which must therefore not be allowed to fall into the hands of the Soviets.
