Lot Essay

"Data's Day" in Star Trek: The Next Generation told the story of an ordinary day aboard the Starship Enterprise-D, as seen through Data's eyes. The highlight of the day was the wedding of Miles O'Brien and Keiko Ishikawa, held in the ship's Ten Forward lounge. Their wedding blended Western tradition and Asian splendor, while episode writers Ronald D. Moore and Harold Apter paid homage to The Original Series by having Picard speak the same words as Kirk did in the wedding ceremony in "Balance of Terror" in Star Trek: The Original Series.
