INDENTCorporal Bert Pearce, born Ascott, Windsor, served with 'B' Squadron, No.1 Troop, Cheshire Yeomanry, in Palestine; was killed in action 7 September 1918 during an attack at Villers Faucon, and is commemorated on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial.
Private John Pearce, brother of Bert Pearce, joined the King's Shropshire Light Infantry in 1914 and proceeded to France, May the following year. He was wounded, September 1916, and also suffered from trench fever. After 11 months in hospital he returned to the Front, and was killed in action, 16 October 1917 whilst the Battalion was taking over trenches north of the Menin Road near Fitzclarence Wood.
