The note "1st rev." is to be found on eight pages, and there are very slight corrections on six pages. PROOF AND PRESENTATION COPY of Hueffer's "third, last and best full-length fairy story" (Saunders I, p. 62), a touching memento of Ford and Elsie's friendship with Robert Garnett who had been amongst those who assisted the young couple in their elopement. Harvey notes that the book was probably published on 8 May 1894, but Saunders (I, p. 62) states that it was "published about a week before the wedding". How or why the book passed back into Elsie's possession is not known. Harvey A5.
