The Grand Banks of Newfoundland are situated south east of Newfoundland on the North American continental shelf and are one of the richest fishing grounds in the world. Here the cold Labrador current mixes with the warm waters of the Gulf Stream and the area is often engulfed by a persistent dense fog.
In the present work, the two fishermen, in imminent danger, have just sounded their fog horn having heard the engines of an approaching vessel and are searching the mist waiting for the boat to reveal itself.
